​Makiya Noonan is a competitive curler, in her first year of Paramedicine. Makiya was born deaf, and in 2007 became the first baby in Canada to receive bilateral cochlear implants in a single surgery. Makiya uses ASL when her implants are off and enjoys studying in silence. As a Student Paramedic she uses a stethoscope that wirelessly connects to her implants via Bluetooth.


Ashley Fiolek is a former American professional motocross racer and current stunt actor. She competed in the AMA Motocross Championships from 2008 to 2012. Fiolek is culturally deaf and communicates in American Sign Language.
Caleb McDuff is a British racing driver who is profoundly deaf. He uses cochlear implants to hear, but he cannot wear the processors of his implants while driving. As a result, he races in complete silence.
